DigCompEdu (Digital Competence of Educators) is the European framework for the digital competence of educators, published in 2017 by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission. It defines 22 competences organised in 6 areas, with 6 proficiency levels from A1 (Newcomer) to C2 (Pioneer).

The framework addresses all educators: teachers at all levels of education, university lecturers, vocational trainers and school leaders involved in the digital transition of teaching.

DigComp defines the digital competences of all citizens, while DigCompEdu focuses specifically on the digital competences needed by educators in the context of teaching practice, digital resource management and assessment.

ExplorerHub is the interactive consultation platform for European competence frameworks, developed by IDCERT - International Digital Certification. This portal is dedicated specifically to the DigCompEdu framework.

The DigCompEdu framework includes 6 proficiency levels inspired by the CEFR: A1 (Newcomer), A2 (Explorer), B1 (Integrator), B2 (Expert), C1 (Leader), C2 (Pioneer). Each level describes the degree of autonomy, creativity and critical ability in the use of digital technologies in educational practice.
