When we talk about entrepreneurship competence, thoughts immediately turn to startups and business plans. But EntreComp, published in 2016 by the Joint Research Centre (JRC), proposes a much broader vision: entrepreneurship competence is the ability to turn ideas into action that creates value -- economic, social or cultural.
Ideas and opportunities - Spotting opportunities, creativity, vision, valuing ideas, ethical and sustainable thinking. The ethical dimension links directly to GreenComp.
Resources - Self-awareness, motivation, mobilising resources, financial and economic literacy (connected to FinComp), and mobilising others.
Into action - Taking the initiative, planning and management, coping with uncertainty, working with others (linked to LifeComp), learning through experience.
Schools can use EntreComp to design project-based learning where students identify problems and prototype solutions. In the workplace, it helps describe increasingly sought-after competences: initiative, resilience, lateral thinking.
